July 2007

Soon your plants can call you. This amuses me very very very much. However for myself and others like me, I suspect this would just make us feel guilty and not help much, as the call would probably come when you weren’t near your plants to take care of them.

Long weekend, but pretty good. Got lots done, had a good time with K’s mom who was visiting, wish there had been more hours in it.

As it turns out, Paul Rudd might actually be my perfect man:

As I’m driving home from work yesterday I see this and wonder if it’s been there all along and I never noticed or what. I mean I drive that way every day, so maybe I’d notice, or maybe I just ignore so much of downtown that it’s been there a while, right? Heh. This morning I ask my co-worker about it while we’re driving in and he says the same thing–he just noticed it, doesn’t know what it is or how long it’s been there. The newspaper reveals that it’s part of some new public art thing being dedicated today. There’s actually several related articles on it, of which my favorite part is the reader comments at the bottom. People seem very bitter about Opryland having closed. Hell, I’m bitter and I never even saw the place. Although the Opryland Hotel is still pretty awesome. It’s my goal to meet someone who will take me on a date to one of the absurd bars or restaurants there. Hmm, this is getting oddly off track from where I started. Must need more coffee.

My feet and ankles itch. Mosquitos and chiggers. Remind me again why I love this part of the country? AUGH.

Last night I had three separate dreams all featuring Outkast’s “Hey Ya!” No, I’m really not sure what that’s all about. I don’t even have an mp3 of the song to listen to to help clear it from my head.

Peanuts, by Charles Bukowski.

Where did I find this?

Thank you,

la_cspan. I swear, I nearly peed myself. That, my friend, is what I want from the internet. Wheeeee!

ETA: my coworker is in a meeting and left his cell on his desk. It’s on ‘vibrate’ and every time it rings it moves a little bit across the table, closer and closer to me. It’s even moving in a slight curve, like it has a real destination in mind.

Corey Haim and Corey Feldman are reuniting? Haim is looking ROUGH! And, I mean, I know all about him selling his own teeth on eBay to pay for drugs. So yeah, twitchy and sketched out. Clearly not recovered from whatever he’s done to himself. Yikes. “Don’t ever do that again for your own safety.” Truer words never spoken, Corey. Though his voice is kind of sexy. Ugh, I can’t believe I just typed that.

I stayed up way too late last night to finish Deathly Hallows. Here be spoilers for HP:DH, beware!

I read recently that vinegar helps mosquito bites. The PH of it neutralizes the awful itching poison or something. So far I find it works pretty well. Usually a bite will cause me hideous itching for 5 days or so. If I put vinegar on it as soon as I notice I’ve got it it seems that bite is gone in 24 hours (leaving only a tiny, faint, non-itchy red mark for a couple days). However, that 24 hour period seems to condense all of 5 days worth of itch into it. GAH! Seriously, bitten right now. I might need to be sedated.

To highlight the bites which are mostly on my ankles, feet and lower calves, today I am wearing a knee length olive drab skirt, and short sleeved white blouse with sort of stripe-y olive drab and pink floral pattern on it.

I’m pretty sure that Blingee.com is the best website ever. Most importantly, I want to see what tatoodevil will do with it.

Hmmmm…

Questions from antheia:

1. Given your choice of LP, CD or MP3, how would you choose to listen to your music?

MP3s. I love CDs if they have good liner notes and lyrics, but overall the portable MP3 player is the greatest invention to come to music since the advent of the radio.

2. What is your dream concert (artist, venue, etc.)?

Hmm, hard to say. Maybe Cory Branan, Lucinda Williams and The New Tragedies at a small club with 25 of my friends and free drinks?

3. Which do you prefer your men in: suits or jeans & tshirts?

I appreciate a good suit and man who can wear one well, but it’s definitely jeans for me. Fitted, worn, low-slung jeans. Mmmm.

4. What is the best thing about the summer?

The temperature. The thunderstorms. The sun. Not having to wear very much clothing.

5. What do you want your next tattoo to be of, if you want another?

It’s already in the works. Sort of an arm band of silhouettes of birds in flight. Hard to explain, but of course I’ll post pictures when I get around to getting it.

And so, you can play too:

THE RULES:

1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better. [You know me, this will probably take me a week or a month or forever. Or maybe be immediate. Depends on my current procrastination rating.]
3. You update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you ask them five questions.

Hey, uh, doesn’t Mercury go direct today? Communication problems ending! And yet my printer at work does not function. And when I went to call support about it? The phones don’t work! The phone was plugged into the printer (it’s a printer/scanner/copier/fax) so now I wonder which broke first, or if one broke the other. Luckily the net still works *knocks on wood* but I can not copy, fax or call, which limits how much work I can really do. I guess I’ll go type up those meeting notes I’ve been putting off. Bah.

So, hey guys, you drink coffee, right? Well a pal of mine recently quit his job at a local coffee company and opened his own coffee roasting joint, Drew’s Brews. I am drinking it right now. I swear it’s good. Get you some. This will end the advertising section of this post.

Heatwave every where, but there is a weird cooler spot right over my state. And in fact, after my c-workers discussed it suspiciously, we went outside and lo! it is in fact pleasant out right now (hovering around 80°F, I’d say). This will end the boring weather discussion section of this post. In fact I think it ends the post all together as I can’t think of anything else to say.

Oh man, my love for Heroes’ Peter Petrelli has really always extended to Milo Ventimiglia, despite that fact that Heroes is pretty much the only decent thing he’s made and he generally has terrible hair and seems to be sort of a jackass, I can’t help but love him. But now he’s gone and cut his hair and good god he’s so fucking hot I can barely stand it. Seriously, I have work to get done and I fear I may spend the entire day STARING at these pics. Hot holy crooked smile, Batman. I can’t stand it.

I need fashion help.

For those who are curious, here is what I did to my little sister’s hair

Most

amusing

surreal anecdote from my 4th: standing outside a biker bar, talking to my mom on my cell, while the bartender from said bar hand feeds me grilled chicken.

It was overall a fairly low-key holiday. I could use another low-key day like that after the last couple weeks. Now I am at work playing catch up and fantasizing about going home and taking a nap.

Anyone have a suggestion on where I can buy inexpensive, fitted, v-neck t-shirts in decent colors? I seem to be ruining mine at an alarming rate lately and both Target and Old Navy have failed me (they both have really weird sort of unpleasant colors this season).

I’m hungry. I wish I had minions to bring me lunch.

I had a good visit with my sister. I think I’ve done more touristy things in the last week than I have the entire time I’ve been in Nashville combined. I sent her home with hot pink streaks in her hair. I’m not sure how much parental fallout there will be from that.

Now it’s only 9:30 in the morning and I’m about to go take a nap. Between the recent car stuff, work and having my sister here I’m so exhausted that I swear I could curl up somewhere terribly uncomfortable and still still for a day or two non-stop. Tired, totally non-functional, like can barely think or operate my body properly kind of tired.

I miss my sister already. Luckily I’ll see her in couple weeks at my cousin’s wedding.

Happy Fourth of July, American peeps! I hope you’re spending it the way you want, relaxing, or partying or playing.
